Hello, so now it times to share my interest in fish keeping with you all. As there is a lot to say on this subject, i have decided to split it into 2 blog entries, the first being about my aquariums and tank setups through the years, then the second blog post about the actual fish i keep in them. I may also publish a third blog entry about the aquatic snails i have had too. I hope you enjoyed my previous posts about my other pets and i hope you like these posts just as much.
I have been keeping fish now for about 2 or 3 years now and through out that time i have had many aquarium set ups including small tanks when i was starting out and some bigger ones when i started to know what i was doing more and my knowledge was growing. Have a read on to find out about them and see some photos and videos too.
I have had 4 main fish tanks with some other temporarily ones along the way. I have bought aquariums from several different places including online, Pets At Home and my local fish shops in Glasgow, Scotland such as M&R Dog Fish and Aqua Parade.
My First Aquarium
The first ever aquarium i bought was a Marina 60 Aquarium and held about 60 Litres of water. I was a great little starter tank and it came with a hang on waterfall filter and a build in light inside the lid. If i remember correctly, i paid £120 for the tank, lid, lights, stand and filter together. Check out the following images and videos of the aquarium when i got it and also as time went on, the different themes i done with it..
After having the above tank for a while, i upgraded it when the young fish i had in it grew up and needed more room, so i then bought the following tank to moved the fish into so they could get more swimming room. I did still kept the Marina 60 tank tho and bought new fish for in it.
My Second Aquarium
My next tank after my first one, i wanted to go bigger, and i went for a 120 Litre tank that was 1 foot back and 3.5 foot in length. It was a Juwel Aquarium and i paid £150 for the tank, lid, stand and a Juwel corner filter it came with. Along with the filter i got with this, i also installed a external canister filter to give the tank more filtration. Here are some images of the aquarium from when i got it and throughout the time i had it..
My Third Aquarium
While i had my first 2 tanks, i came across a 90 Litre tank on the internet for sale and i couldn’t resist buying it. I only paid £50 to the seller and that was for the tank, stand, lid and lights, it was a great deal some other extras were thrown in like gravel and 1 or 2 smaller ornaments. This aquarium had a external canister filter running on it which was stored away in the stand below. I only had this tank for a little while, but in my opinion, looked amazing when it was planted.
I like to record videos of my aquariums and upload them to my YouTube Channel. Here is one of the video here for you to watch if you like: New Filter In Aqua One 30L Fry Tank. I also Tweet a lot of aquarium photos onto My Twitter and My Google+ profiles.
My Fourth (Current) Aquarium
This is the aquarium that i still currently have up and running in my living room. It is a custom made tank and holds 250 Litre of water. It cost me £300 to be made and it was all done to my custom measurements and style. I added a Juwel 3D background on it, 2 external canister filters (stored behind each stand door) and several LED lights as well as a tube bulb light within the lid. Below are some photos of this tank since i got it..
I plan on keeping to the one tank in the living room for now and looking after it as best as possible to get the plants in it as healthy as possible (as well as the fish). If i do get another aquarium, then it will be one for in the hall area of my house.
